We can help you manage stress, anxiety, and other mental health concerns. From on-campus counseling services to online therapy options, there are numerous avenues available to help you maintain a balanced and healthy mindset.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline

988 will connect you to a crisis center.
Trained crisis counselors are waiting to help 24/7.
The support is free and confidential.

Mental Health Resources

Mental health and wellness services at Minnesota West provide a range of free and confidential options to address problems related to personal, social, educational, and mental health concerns. The goal is to provide support to students to increase academic success and personal wellness. Services are offered in-person, by phone, or virtually using Zoom.
  • Academic warning/probation/suspension

  • Past or present abuse (physical, emotional, sexual)

Whether you are struggling with class requirements, encountering issues in relationships, feeling concerned over addictive behaviors, or any other concern that is impacting your overall success, mental health and wellness services are available to meet your individual needs.

  • All students enrolled at Minnesota West are eligible for services.
  • Mental health and wellness services are free for all students enrolled at Minnesota West.
  • Appointments can be made by booking online or by contacting a Mental Health Coordinator.
  • Sessions last around 50 minutes and are offered in-person, by phone, or virtually using Zoom. ( Worthington in-person sessions are held in office 276. Other campus locations for in-person sessions are TBD at this time.)
  • Hours of Operation are Monday-Friday 9 am -4 pm.
  • You will be asked to fill out a brief intake form at the start of the session or prior to attending the first session which includes: discussing the reasons that brought you to seek out assistance. This includes addressing your concerns or symptoms you are experiencing, how you are coping, and how it is affecting you academically and in other areas of your life. There will also be a discussion on confidentiality, consent to treatment, and what it means to give a release of information.

Telepsychiatry services are available to all Minnesota West students. We partnered with Minnesota State University, Mankato to provide remote medication management appointments with a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. 

Get a referral from Kathy Gruis. Attend appointments via Zoom at a private location on campus, or use your personal electronic device from any location.

This service does take health insurance. Whatever is not covered by your insurance provider will be paid for by Minnesota West. Students are financially responsible for the cost of their medication.
