Welcome to the Marshall Merit Center. Home to our Customized Training Programs. The MERIT (Minnesota Emergency Response & Industry Training) Center is a 53-acre, state-of-the-art, regional fire and rescue training facility. The facility is owned by the city of Marshall and operated by Minnesota West. Offering a wide variety of training opportunities to both municipal emergency responders as well as private industrial emergency responders.

Facility Features

The state-of-the-art facility is equipped with classrooms, ethanol props, a wind tower prop, a training tower, a driving track, and simulators. Maximize your training and take your skills to the next level.

Driving Track

The driving track is a 1.5-mile loop. The track simulates a real-life highway scenario that allows for a safe, realistic driving environments.

Driving Simulator

The driving simulator has a three-screen 1024×786 resolution display. It lets the user practice driving scenarios such as multitasking in a police car.
wind tower prop

Wind Tower Prop

The Wind Tower prop is one third the height of a real wind tower. It features two commonly used ladders for practice. The top section mimics a nacelle, offering a realistic environment despite no moving parts.
training tower

Training Tower

This five-story rescue tower can be utilized for various fire and law enforcement training topics. The tower can be utilized for search and rescue, ground and aerial ladder deployment, rope rescue, confined space entry/rescue, standpipe operation, and hose line advancing.
