Basic Needs Support
211 Resources
We have partnered with United Way 211 to establish a statewide basic needs resource hub. The basic needs resource hub provides access to basic needs resources. Text, or chat 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
United Way 211 provides free and confidential health and human services information. They are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to connect you with the resources and information you need. If you're looking for information about services available in your community for you or a loved one, they can help.

Food Pantry
Each campus and the Luverne Center have a food pantry available for students. The pantry supplies food and personal care supplies. If you have questions, contact your Student Services Specialist or Student Services Advisor.
Emergency Fund
The Bluejays Emergency Fund Program aids currently enrolled, degree-seeking students at Minnesota West facing severe financial hardships that could affect their ability to attend or stay enrolled in classes. By applying, students confirm they have explored other financial resources such as family, friends, financial aid, loans, credit cards, or community resources.

Jackson
No on-campus child care is available. Contact Des Moines Valley Health and Human Services at 507-847-4000
for a list of local childcare providers.
Pipestone
No on-campus child care is available. Contact Pipestone Family Services at 507-825-6720 for a list of childcare
providers in the area.
Worthington
No on-campus child care is available. Contact the Nobles County Family Service Agency at 507-372-8303 for
a list of current childcare providers. Be sure to ask about the Minnesota Child Care Assistance Program.
Another resource to contact for all campuses is the Southwestern Minnesota Opportunity Council (SMOC) Child Care Resource and Referral program at 866-511-2244.
Post-Secondary Child Care Grant Program
Helps low income students who have young children pay for child care while the student attends classes.
Food & Personal Care Pantry
Located on each of the 5 campuses and the Luverne Center for students. You do not need to report to anyone, you can access the items as needed.
There are food shelf services located off-campus in all of our college communities.
You have a variety of housing options, depending on which of our campuses you plan to attend. Our Worthington and Canby campuses are equipped with limited on-campus housing.
