Steps for Transfering out of Minnesota West:

  1. Meet with an academic advisor to make sure you are on track to transfer to your college or university of choice.
  2. Review degree audit (DARS), which helps you monitor your progress toward a degree or program completion.
  3. Apply to the college you are planning to attend.
  4. Apply for financial aid.
  5. Apply for graduation from Minnesota West
  6. After you graduate, request an official copy of your transcript to be mailed to the college you plan to attend.

Within the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) system - A General Education course that meets a Minnesota Transfer Curriculum (MnTC) goal at Minnesota West will meet the same goal at another MnSCU institution.
Institutions accept credits from courses and programs like those they offer. They look for similarity in course goals, content, and level: "like" transfers to "like."  
Not everything that transfers counts toward graduation. Bachelor's degree programs usually count credits in three categories: general education, major/minor courses and prerequisites/electives.

The accreditation of both the sending and the receiving institution can affect the transfer of the credits earned.
