Visiting Student

A visiting student at Minnesota West, also known as a non-degree seeking student, is a student who enrolls in courses without the intention of earning a degree. Take a course for personal or professional development, or to transfer credits to another college.

Visiting students do not need to fill out an application for admissions. Steps to become a visiting student at Minnesota West:

Current Minnesota State Students:

If you are currently admitted at another Minnesota State college or university, you can register by logging in to eServices:

  1. Under Courses and Registration, select Find a Course.
  2. Click on the Advanced Search tab to find the Minnesota West course and then add it to your course cart.
  3. Register as you would for any course.

New Student:

If you are not a student at another Minnesota State college or university and wish to take classes but do not wish to seek a degree, diploma or certificate from Minnesota West, you should follow these instructions:

  1. View class schedules. Select the courses for which you want to register. Please note that some courses may have pre-requisites or placement requirements.
  2. You will need to set up an account in eServices in order to register.
  3. Go to eServices Student Account. At the end of the Login ID line, locate Need an ID?
  4. Select Sign up Now and follow instructions to create an account.
  5. After creating your account, you will be logged in.

Tips:

  • If you attempt to register for a course that requires a placement test score or a prerequisite course and your registration fails, please complete the e-form to provide your pre-requisite information. 
  • You will need to include a digital copy of your unofficial transcript for verification purposes. For questions, please contact registrar@mnwest.edu for assistance.
  • Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for financial aid.
