PSEO

High school sophomores, juniors and seniors are able to take college-level courses at one of our Minnesota West locations or online and earn both high school and college credit.

Why PSEO?

Students have the opportunity to advance their education, save money, and meet graduation standards as well as preparing for future career goals.

  • Affordability - There is no cost to students for tuition, fees, and course required textbooks and materials.
  • Exploration -Students can explore different academic fields and career paths before committing to a college major.
  • Increased College Readiness- PSEO courses can ease the transition from high school to college by familiarizing students with the expectations and demands of college courses.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Courses often offer more flexible scheduling options compared to high school classes.

Students may withdraw prior to 4:00 p.m. on the date on which eighty percent (80%) of the days in the academic semester have elapsed. For courses not on a standard academic semester schedule, the final date for official course withdrawal shall be the date on which eighty percent (80%) of the instructional days for the course have elapsed.

  • REACH (taking courses in the high school) and CTE (Career and Technical Education) students should work with their local instructor/advisor.
  • All other PSEO students should withdraw via their eServices account.

You can reference the Student Calendar for withdrawal dates for full semester-long classes, or view your class schedule in eServices and hover over the last day to the withdraw field.

Visit with your high school counselor to determine what kind of courses you need to complete your requirements for your diploma. After those requirements are met, you can take electives in areas of interest to you.

All Minnesota West activities (such as art, music, campus clubs) are open to PSEO students. If interested in inter-collegiate athletics, you must visit with the Minnesota West Athletic Director about eligibility. You can also continue to participate in your high school's extra-curricular activities.

You will not be charged for tuition, fees, or required textbooks. These expenses are covered as part of your high school education. Private music lesson fees and other additional course fees are the responsibility of the student.

Each semester you may register for up to 16 credits. You must be enrolled less than full-time in high school while participating in the PSEO program.

All PSEO students are granted the same protections under FERPA as Minnesota West’s regularly enrolled students - this includes REACH concurrent enrollment and Career and Technical Education students. Review our Student Data Privacy Policy.
