Energy Technical Specialist, A.A.S.
This degree will prepare you for work as a technician in energy technology and convey the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in the traditional and renewable energy fields. In addition to 15 General Education credits, you will study a 35-credit core curriculum providing a strong base in electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems. Select 10 credits in an area of specialization to complete their program of study from the following: Wind Energy, Ethanol, Biodiesel, Fossil Fuels, or Nuclear Power Generation.

Career Opportunities
Ethanol Operators are in charge of unloading raw materials and loading ethanol and distiller’s grain. Responsibilities include coordinating truck and rail car movement on the plant site. The primary focus is on optimizing production quantity and quality while aligning with the company's policies, goals, and objectives.
Biodiesel Processing Technicians oversee gauges and meters to ensure safe and efficient production, adjusting the equipment as necessary. They are proficient with a range of fuel sources, including corn, sugarcane, soybeans, and other plants utilized in biofuel production.
Control Room Operators are responsible for monitoring and controlling various processes and equipment from a central control room. They ensure efficient operation, troubleshoot any issues that arise, and maintain detailed records of production activities
Maintenance Technicians perform routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on equipment and machinery to ensure smooth operations. Responsibilities include troubleshooting issues, conducting preventative maintenance, and documenting work performed.
Solar Installers are responsible for installing solar panels and related equipment on residential or commercial properties. Duties include assembling and mounting panels, connecting electrical components, and testing system functionality.
Wind Technicians are responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting wind turbines to ensure optimal performance. Duties include conducting routine inspections, replacing defective parts, and performing preventative maintenance tasks.
